Strategic and Sustainable Change Task Force

The Strategic and Sustainable Change task force was tasked with three major items:

First, to determine what contractual changes need to be made to bring the JCEA/Jeffco Schools negotiated agreement into alignment with SB 191. Major issues to be examined include transfers and reduction in force. In 2012-13 the task force continues to meet. We have new language for RIF (layoffs) and are close to new language on transfers/reassignments.


Secondly, a new collaborative decision making model within the context of a more professional work environment for teachers will be developed, incorporating current CDM practices and models from current district initiatives like Adaptive Schools and Success in Sight. Other areas related to professionalizing the Jeffco teaching profession will also be examined including leave policies. The task force rewrote Article 20. The new language emphasizes the importance of shared leadership and shared accountability. Best practice includes multiple structures for collaborative decision making.

Thirdly the Board of Education would like recommendations on a new system for compensating teachers.
This item was carried over to 2012-13. We are currently working on a joint committee on possible salary schedule changes.


New contract language will come before the JCEA membership for ratification.
