Return to in-person / hybrid learning
As expected today the district announced that the return to hybrid learning for our secondary schools is being moved up to February 25th. As always, we want to hear from you about this change. Yesterday a second AR council meeting was scheduled for next Tuesday January 19th.
We strongly encourage a few simple actions to take between now and Tuesday:
For our members:
We are well aware that we have members all across the spectrum on the issue of when and how Jeffco can or should return to in-person learning. The reality is, we will probably never find a solution that addresses the wants and needs of everyone.
JCEA has a long history of democratic decision making – one member, one vote. We do our best to make space for all opinions and respectful debate. Wherever you stand on the issue, we strongly encourage you to outreach your AR to let them know how you feel. Your ARs are more effective in their role when they have a clear sense of what members want.
For our ARs:
Outreach your members to ask them how they are feeling about this adjustment. A quick google survey, text outreach, email, phone call or a virtual JCEA meeting are all helpful.
- How do you feel about the adjusted plan?
- Are there any additional issues you believe we should be advocating for? (Additional plan time, pausing testing, additional PPE, etc.)
- If you don’t support the adjusted plan to return on the 25th what kind of action are you willing to take to change it?
RSVP to join us on Tuesday to revisit the discussion and debate on this issue and our upcoming contract campaign. We need you in the room to represent your members and building. Robert’s Rules Refresher Tuesday
We have heard from many of you that you would like a refresher on the ins and outs of Roberts Rules. We will be hosting an optional meeting Tuesday before the 2nd January council session for anyone interested in attended. This training can and will be offered as many times as needed.
