LAKEWOOD – The Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA) is proud to support Joan Chávez-Lee and Stephanie Schooley in their campaigns for school board director for Jeffco Public Schools.
Joan Chávez-Lee has her roots grounded in the Molholm neighborhood of the greater Jefferson community. As a former teacher and principal in the Jefferson area, she has demonstrated leadership in JPS, the community, and beyond. If elected, Joan would seek to ensure transparency in decision making and increase community engagement across the district.
Stephanie Schooley has worked in higher education for nearly twenty years in Colorado and surrounding areas. Her husband is a JPS alum and both of their children are current JPS students. Schooley believes that engaging communities in authentic decision making is necessary and that all stakeholders have a voice at the table. As a school board member, she would strive to strengthen stakeholder engagement in decision making across the district.
Together, these candidates are experienced and knowledgeable, both in the nuances of JPS but also in public education as a whole, and make a well-rounded slate for the open school board positions.
“We are pleased to recommend these two champions of students, communities, and educators and believe that they will work hard to move Jeffco forward and help further our educators’ mission of providing the public schools our students deserve,” said Jon Cefkin, Jeffco teacher and JCEA board member.
JCEA’s recommendation was made by a multi-partisan, elected committee of JCEA members, following candidate completion of a questionnaire and interview with the committee.
