I trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I first want to formally congratulate the newly elected Directors of the Jefferson County Board of Education, Michelle Applegate and Erin Kenworthy. As a duly elected President of the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA), I write to bring to your attention a matter of utmost significance to our members and the educational community at large.
I wish to remind the District of the mutual agreement reached during prior negotiations to explore a transition from the existing flat rate contribution model to a percentage-based system for healthcare benefits. This commitment was a crucial step toward ensuring the well-being of our dedicated educators and support professionals who tirelessly contribute to the success of our schools, students, and the Jefferson County community.
In alignment with our shared vision for a collaborative and transparent negotiation process, we draw your attention and highlight the Benefits Advisory Committees’ recommendations of initiating a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Employee Healthcare Benefits.
We urge the District to honor the previously agreed-upon negotiations and engage in fruitful discussions with JCEA and JESPA concerning the transition to a percentage-based contribution for healthcare benefits. This change is vital for the financial well-being, job satisfaction of our members, and retaining high quality educators district-wide for the best educational experiences for our students, employees and community.
Furthermore, I advocate for the prompt initiation of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Employee Healthcare Benefits, as strongly recommended by the Benefits Advisory Committee. This process will undoubtedly enhance transparency, foster inclusivity in decision-making, and ensure that the best possible options are considered for the benefit of all stakeholders.
I look forward to your continued commitment to collaborative and fair negotiations and trust that District Management and the Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education will uphold their promise to create an environment that values the contributions and commitment of our educators.
