Last night your team went to the table for the first bargaining session of the school year! The session began with District management giving a speech about the tough fiscal position they are in this year, in addition to all the things they cannot do because of the transition to new human resources software as they move away from ESS.

These are the proposals that were passed at the table tonight (as a reminder, JCEA proposes language written in blue, District management proposes language in red, and when we reach agreement, it is highlighted in yellow):

Article 10: Collaboration

JCEA passed this article to address an issue for what collaboration looks like at the Ed Center for central departments. District management said they would return this at our next session on February 19.

Article 13: Leaves

JCEA passed this article, which included language for us to move away from the current private short-term disability policy with The Standard and on to the Colorado FAMLI benefit plan. This plan covers many more reasons for leave and educators would receive a higher benefit payout (between 64-77% depending on salary) than The Standard (60%).

Our proposal also brought back short term payouts which we included in our proposal last year in the transition to general leave. This would allow people who use 3 or fewer general leave days by January 15 to trade in their leave days for a payout.

Appendix B: Coach & Sponsor stipends

District Management passed this proposal which included the final increase to our stipend schedule as a part of the third and final year of its roll out. There is also language regarding how coaches and sponsors will be placed when there is a new stipend added to the schedule. The teams are close on this JCEA proposal and we anticipate that the District will return this article at the next session.

And we have a tentative agreement on Article 3: Association Relationship! This was a simple change to add language that allows for an additional released leader which mirrors language in the JESPA contract.
