Important Message to Jeffco Employees about COVID-19 Vaccinations
Governor Polis announced the expansion of vaccine distribution in Colorado to include staff at PK-12 schools (phase 1B.2) as early as Monday, February 8. However, because of the limited vaccine supply, there will likely be some delay before you can actually get the vaccine. The limited vaccine supply affects every school district in the metro Denver area equally.
Please read this important update from Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) on vaccine rollout, eligibility, and access.
Colorado and Jefferson County’s vaccination plan is quickly evolving based on vaccine supply. All school districts are coordinating with health care providers to determine the best way to get Colorado’s educators and district employees vaccinated as soon as possible.
While we wait for sufficient vaccine quantities to be available in Jefferson County, we are encouraging all employees to do their own research and register through other health provider websites as part of the eligible group of Colorado residents beginning on February 8. It may be possible that you are able to receive your vaccination from another provider based on where you live or because of that provider’s vaccine allocation. Here is a list of provider websites where you can register.
The prioritization of keeping school and child care staff safe while getting students back to in-person learning is critical to the community. We will continue to update you as additional information regarding vaccine processes evolve.
What are the expectations after staff get vaccinated?
As a reminder, the COVID-19 vaccine is two doses, either 21 or 28 days apart depending on the brand of vaccine you get. For many months to follow after your vaccination, health protocols will remain in place including:
- Wearing masks at all times except when working alone in a private space;
- Maintaining social distancing, not gathering in groups;
- Health screening upon building entry;
- And washing hands frequently.
We must continue to work together to protect ourselves and others during this time. Thank you for all your efforts in keeping our community safe. Be sure to visit the Keeping #TeamJeffco Safe page on MyJeffco often for the most current information on vaccinations, health protocols, and more.
