Dear fellow educators,
I want to get to the point about what happened tonight at our bargaining table::
Tonight, our JCEA Bargaining Team held out for a 2.67% increase for all licensed educators across the board. This is an ongoing increase to our salary and will be retroactive to September 2018.
The District Team pushed for a flat rate allocation of money to every cell on the salary schedule, but the JCEA Bargaining Team did not budge, even when the district offered a compromise proposal that would have combined a flat amount with a smaller, 2% COLA. Our team held out for 2.67% for all educators, valuing all educators and making it more appealing to stay in Jeffco as teachers gain experience.
Details regarding how the retroactive pay increase will be distributed are still to be determined, though you may see a lump sum of retroactive pay for the September – March pay periods, followed by an ongoing increase for the remainder of the year. Once these logistics have been determined with HR, all educators will receive communication regarding the pay distribution.
It’s important to remember that we have this additional funding thanks to many of you that volunteered your time knocking on doors, talking to voters, and encouraging the people of Jeffco to vote yes for 5A. Your voice as an educator is critical in getting these important ballot measures across the finish line and your work helps make Jeffco stronger!
United we bargain, divided we beg – I encourage you to come to JCEA Bargaining to stand as a collective power for a better Jeffco. Next week we will hit the table to talk about the evaluation process and we would love to hear from you. What is not working in the evaluation process? What would you like to see change? What would you like to see stay the same. Reply to me HERE and let’s talk evaluations!
This communication is to all members and potential members of JCEA. If you are not a member, you can join JCEA here.
