Gratitude

Educators and support professionals are the heart and soul of our schools and the support provided to our students. We say all the time that the District cannot run without you, and the same applies to your union.

Our biggest accomplishments are only possible because we take action as a union of educators. Reflecting on the last four years it often feels like we have been asked to do the impossible. From teaching remotely during the height of the pandemic, to ending the BS Factor, and negotiating our full contract – alone these tasks would have been insurmountable, but together you all wrote letters, participated in rallies, attended bargaining, lobbied at the Capitol, and did whatever it took to make sure your students had the neighborhood schools they deserved. As we head into Thanksgiving Recess the leaders of your union want you to know that your membership and action in your union matters, and we are grateful for each and every member of JCEA.

As this year draws to a close (I can’t believe it either!), it’s time to remember that solidarity is our strength, and as we prepare to fight for our students, know your union colleagues are standing right there with you.

Give to the Excellence Fund

You can join the statewide movement and make a big impact in your community. This year, Colorado Gives Day is on December 10, and it’s easily the best day to give! And you don’t need to wait until December to give.

From November 1 through December 10, every donation you make will be boosted with a $1M+ Incentive Fund, made possible by Colorado Gives Foundation and FirstBank. Each nonprofit will receive a share of the fund based on their percentage of the total raised. Plus, if you set up a new monthly donation, Colorado Gives Foundation will match your first monthly donation up to $100 and up to $250,000 in total across all organizations! This is a fantastic opportunity to double your impact and support our efforts to provide scholarships to Jeffco graduates majoring in education or physical sciences.

How to Get Started:

  1. Use this link to visit our Colorado Gives donation page.
  2. Choose the option for monthly giving.
  3. Your donation will be matched automatically.

You can also support us for free by following our page on Facebook and inviting all your friends to follow the page too! The Excellence Fund relies on word of mouth and referrals from your friends in order to help us fundraise, so every invitation you send helps us grow.

Thank you for your support and making this Colorado Gives Day the most successful yet!

Gearing up for Grub Club

In our Jeffco community, more than 2,400 students are unhoused or emancipated, often facing challenges like food insecurity. As educators and neighbors, we know that hunger impacts more than academics—it affects the spirit, well-being, and opportunities of every child. That’s why Grub Club is such a vital initiative.

Each spring, the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA), Jefferson County Education Association Retired (JCEA-R), Jefferson County Educational Support Professionals Association (JESPA), the Jeffco PTA partner, and newest partner The Second Wind Fund with the Jeffco Action Center to provide food and hygiene items for these students. Last year, we exceeded expectations, donating over 36,000 items to ensure these students had what they needed to focus on learning, not where their next meal would come from.

To stay up to date with Grub Club, follow our page on Facebook. Our webpage for Grub Club will go live in December!

Key Dates:

  • Kick off Grub Club December 10th
  • March 7, 2025 3-6 Drop off your School’s collected items
  • March 8th, 2025 10-12 Drop off your School’s collected items

Thank you for being part of a community that lifts up our students when they need it most!
