Statement from Brooke Williams, art teacher and President of the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA) on the departure of Dr. Glass:

“The members of JCEA extend our best wishes to Dr. Glass and his family as they return to their home state of Kentucky and as he begins this new chapter in his career as the next Commissioner of Education.

“Dr. Glass arrived in our district after a very turbulent time. We appreciate his leadership returning our District to more stable ground. His vision for public education in Jefferson County has been well received by both Jeffco employees and the community and he leaves the District well situated to continue moving forward.

“We expect that the Jefferson County School Board will value the voice and vision of our educators and involve JCEA and all of our JPS associations in the process of selecting our next Superintendent. We look forward to working in collaboration with them on this journey.

“JCEA also recognizes that this leadership change is happening in the midst of an unprecedented public health crisis. We expect that the health and safety of our students, educators, and community will be central to all decisions moving forward.
